Can Bondo Patch some holes in his game

Bondo gets the start tonight looking to build off of his last outing. He needs to go at least 6 innings tonight to allow the bullpen to rest a little bit. In his last outing against the Angels he gave up 3 runs to the first five batters. Then he settled down and only allowed one infield hit over the next 19 batters.

So what does Bondo have to do to find success in the league? A couple of bullets and maybe we can find the answer.

  • First Bonderman must locate his pitches. He must be able to work hitters both inside and out. Bondo has never had pinpoint control, but when you are only throwing 88 MPH this is something you have to do to be successful.
  • He has to be able to throw his slider and changeup for strikes. This is something he did well his last time out. That changeup could become a very good pitch for him if he builds confidence in it.
  • Finally Bondo must trust his stuff. His two seamer has lots of late life, which is a good thing. He has an almost wicked slider and has turned the Split-fingered fastball into an out pitch.
